I know AWM's Speakeasy blog has covered parallel importation. Since then, I've come across a new website that supports preventing changes to Australia's parallel importation laws. It's the official site for the campaign to prevent the surrendering of Australian copyright. Such a decision by the Productivity Commission and the Australian Government would destroy a vibrant industry and place hundreds of Australians out of work – all for not even a single benefit! Today, Ronnie Scott from The Lifted Brow will be heading up a live forum via The Australian Writers' Marketplace (AWM) Online, at 11am Eastern Standard time. AWM regularly hosts forums as an opportunity for AWM subscribers to speak directly to industry professionals. Ronnie's a great guy, and also the Co-Director of the National Young Writers Festival this year. QWC recently had him in for lunch and we yarned up bigabout youth engagement, independent publishing/distribution, ongoing sustainability, the role of gigs in promoting literature and upcoming writing trends. She's been busy confirming the themes of the magazine for the rest of the year, aligned with our handsome redesign happening in a few months time... One of her proposed themes is place: the role of place in literature, how it influences writers; literary devices that align place in association with character development and narrative. Read More »

She writes for newspapers, magazines, Education Queensland, James Cook University and other corporate businesses and has won awards for short stories, developed short film and radio scripts. Her play The Boathouse was produced by JUTE and Darwin Theatre Companies in 2006. Read More »
