Travelling to South Bank
By car
Paid parking is available at the following local car parks:
- Stanley Place car park. Enter via the Cultural Centre tunnel or Stanley Place. For information on parking fees, telephone (07) 3840 7942.

Please note: all Cultural Centre car parks, including the Stanley Place car park beneath the State Library building, are managed by the Corporate Administration Agency.
By bus
Cultural Centre Busway Station in Melbourne Street. Chartered bus temporary set-down in Stanley Place.
By train
South Brisbane Station, corner of Melbourne and Grey Streets.
By CityCat and ferry
The CityCat and City Ferry terminals are located at South Bank 1 CityCat terminal.
By foot
The State Library is a short walk from Brisbane’s CBD via Victoria Bridge, Kurilpa Bridge or the William Jolly (Grey Street) Bridge.
Please note:
Queensland Museum Whale Mall: On 3 October access to the Whale Mall will be stopped when hoardings are installed to block all access points. The hoardings will remain in place for several months.

Bag Policy
As State Library is a government building, there is a bag policy in place for visitors to Queensland Writers Centre located on Level 2.
When you arrive at the Reception area of the State Library of Queensland, you are required to obtain a QWC bag tag from the cloakroom if you’re bag is over a certain size. QWC patrons can bring their bags up to the Centre, as long as you identify yourself as a QWC visitor.
Please be aware that taking food/drink into the collections area on Level 2 is prohibited.
