Books From Our Backyard
Queensland is home to exciting writing talent. Books From Our Backyardaims to support that talent by identifying and celebrating the voices that create our Queensland identity.
Each year will produce a resource that details books written by Queenslanders that will be available to Australian readers, booksellers, and libraries. As well as the catalogue, in 2013 we'll be launching a website providing further information about published works and links to purchasing options.

Books From Our Backyard 2011 - A year of Queensland writing
'I love to read Queensland stories. Whether they are fiction or non-fiction, based in the tropical state that we know or some fantastical world in a faroff universe, there is a huge variety of work that comes out of our own backyard.
As Chair of Queensland Writers Centre, I am proud to offer you this publication – Books from our Backyard 2011 – highlighting many of the great books published by Queensland writers in 2011, and connecting Australian readers with Queensland writers. I urge you all to browse this great list of books and seek them out in your local bookstores or online, to support Queensland writers, and to enjoy the wealth of tales and wisdom they offer.'
Kevin Gillespie
Chair, QWC
