You’ve heard of agents, but have you heard of literary scouts? Most Australian writers are unaware of this mysterious profession. Now you have an exclusive opportunity to meet one, as international guest, Elena Lappin lifts the veil on the strange and inscrutable life of a literary scout. You’ll learn how scouts work with publishers and agents, and, ultimately how they help unearth exciting manuscripts by new writers.

Elena Lappin is a novelist, journalist, and literary scout based in the UK. As a scout, Elena uses her fluency in several languages to find the best contemporary fiction and narrative non-fiction for publishing clients in numerous territories. She is also the author of a collection of short stories, Foreign Brides (Picador 1999), and a novel, The Nose (Picador 2001).
