Interested in writing as a career and not quite sure where to start? So, You Want to Be a Writer talks you through the realities of a writing career, from submission schedules to deadlines, networking and the awards circuit. Whether you’re a fiction or non-fiction writer, journalist or reviewer, this seminar will inform the emergent writer to the pitfalls and pleasures of a career in writing.

Christopher Currie is a Brisbane-based writer whose first novel, The Ottoman Motel was published by Text Publishing in 2011. He was recently awarded The 2012 Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarship for Prose. He maintains the barely-tolerated literary blog Furious Horses. www.furioushorses.com

Angela Slatter is a Brisbane-based writer of speculative fiction.
