The Business of Being a Writer will take you through the things you need to know and do to make a living from your writing. Copyright issues, contracts and licenses, finances, tax and marketing will all be covered by our panel of experts.

Alex Adsett is a publishing consultant with over 15 years experience in publishing and bookselling. She offers business advice to authors, publishers and booksellers, helping them review and negotiate their contracts including print and ebook publishing agreements, film and translation.

Kylie Pappalardo is a copyright lawyer and a doctoral candidate in the QUT Faculty of Law and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation (CCI). She holds degrees in Law and Creative Writing from QUT and a Masters of Laws from Georgetown University in Washington DC. 

Rachael Bermingham is regarded as one of Australia’s #1 self-published female authors. With her friend, Kim McCosker, Rachael co-wrote and self-published 4 Ingredients, which went on to become Australia’s bestseller in 2008. Rachael’s first solo title, How to Write Your Own Book & Make it a Bestseller, also became an overnight bestseller.
