Advanced Short Story Clinic is an intensive weekly writing workshop for short fiction writers who have already completed a number of short stories. This course sets a cracking pace! Develop your short story writing technique through analysing the work of peers and receiving constructive critique on your work, expand your writing arsenal with a rigorous reading and homework schedule, learn the tricks and tropes of the form, and create a polished work of short fiction ready for publication. All participants must submit at least two stories for critique – no exceptions.

Please note: admission to this course is by submission. The submission process is to ensure that all participants are at a similar stage of development; submission will be judged on potential, not current state of development. The Advanced Short Story Clinic is for committed short fiction writers with an established creative practice; this course is not suitable for beginners.

Angela Slatter’s The Girl with No Hands and Other Tales won an Aurealis Award (2011) and Sourdough and Other Stories was shortlisted for a World Fantasy Award (2011). In 2012 “The Coffin-Maker’s Daughter” won a British Fantasy Award. Midnight and Moonshine, with Lisa Hannett, is due November 2012. She blogs at www.angelaslatter.com.
