On Saturday, May 11 join critically acclaimed author, Kim Wilkins (The Infernal, The Resurrectionists, The Year of Ancient Ghosts), alongside authors Peter Ball (Horn, Bleed) and Chris Somerville (We Are Not the Same Anymore),and writers, Laura Elvery and Samantha George-Allen, as they share their stories of Tooth and Nail.
Whispers cuts across genre and style - short and long form - to showcase exciting new voices alongside some of Queensland’s best loved authors in a series of dynamic reading events. Relax in The Library Café as a diverse snapshot of writers share their works, and connect with passionate readers and writers as we celebrate the unique stories and voices that define Queensland.

Saturday April 13:
Critically acclaimed author, Matthew Condon (The Motorcycle Cafe, A Night at the Pink Poodle, The Trout Opera, Three Crooked Kings), alongside poet Jonathan Hadwan, and fiction writers, Kate Zahnleiter, Jack Vening and Christina Lee, shared their stories of the Places They've Lived.
Saturday March 9:
The March salon featured British Fantasy Award winner, Angela Slatter (The Girl with No Hands, Sourdough & Other Stories, Midnight and Moonshine), alongside special guests novelist, Jessica White (Entitlement, A Curious Intimacy), poet Zenobia Frost, and short fiction writers, Samuel Maguire and James Butler, as they share their stories At Sea.
Saturday 9 February:
The first Whispers for 2013 featured QLD Literary Awards People's Choice Award shortlister Kári Gíslason (The Promise of Iceland), alongside special guests poet Julie Beveridge, blogger and columnist Michelle Law, and short fiction writers, Claire Alcock and Andrew Last, as they shared their tales of Love and Other Lost Things.
Saturday 15 December:
In December Whispers was all about Feasts and Rituals, feature an inspiring line up of writers including: John Birmingham (He Died with a Felafel in His Hand, Axis of Time trilogy), Kylie Chan (The Dark Heavens trilogy), Kimberley Freeman (Wildflower Hill, Lighthouse Bay), Chris Currie (The Ottoman Motel) and Rachael Briggs – 2011 Arts QLD Val Vallis Award winner.
Saturday 13 October:
October featured Brisbane's lady of erotic fiction Krissy Kneen (Affection and Triptych), alongside special guests Antonia Strakosch, Simon Groth, Ellen van Neerven and Ian Walkley, exploring Mayhem and Monsters.
Saturday 11 August:
This inaugural event featured the stylings of SF author Trent Jamieson (Death Works and Night’s Engines series), with special guests Meg Vann, Kathleen Noud, Kate Cantrell and Robert Cook.
