About The Writer's Surgery: 90-minute mentorships:
QWC is connecting members with professional mentors who will help you achieve your writing goals.
QWC’s Writer’s Surgery is a member’s only, writing ‘check up’ to help you overcome hurdles and achieve your writing goals. You’ll submit 20 pages of your work (be it a novel, short story collection, non-fiction work or poetry) for review and comment, then engage in a 90-minute conversation with your mentor, who will provide advice according to your goals.
In 2015, we introduced Writer's Surgery bundles, for writers who would like to continue working on their projects with their mentor. A bundle allows you to book three consecutive sessions with your mentor.
The Writer’s Surgery is focused on you as a writer – rather than just your words. Your session will address any questions about writing you may have, discuss your ideas and intentions and gain practical advice on technique and industry practice.
Mentors are available in the following areas:
- Anthology Projects
- Author Platform
- Children’s and Picture Books
- Cover Letter
- Digital Publishing
- General Fiction
- Historical Fiction
- Romance Fiction
- Short Fiction
- Speculative Fiction
- Submission Packages
- YA Fiction
Members are invited to join their mentor face-to-face in QWC’s offices, via phone or web conference.
Cost (payable at first session): $180/single session $395/bundle of three sessions
Please email QWC at email@example.com for more details.
The Writer's Surgery is a QWC service. If you are interested in participating in the program, all queries, applications and bookings must be done through the QWC Programs team ONLY. Please do not contact the mentors directly. Any applications received through mentors will be discarded.
